See the bigger picture with Google Photo Sphere

Google has grown eyes in the back of its head

Do you find it cumbersome taking multiple images just to capture one experience? Or more likely, do you never bother to do that because, let’s face it, it’s waaaay too much hassle, even shooting in panorama?

Say hello to the new version of a photo album. With Photo Sphere you can capture not only what’s around you, but also what’s above and below you. 360 degrees in one image.

See through the eye of the beholder.

What devices can use it and how does it work?

Google added the photo sphere feature in Android 4.2 (originally with the Nexus 4) and has since become available with iOS. It allows you to take immersive pictures with your phone and then share them online. Just like the Street View feature in Google Maps, you can now take multiple images and have them automatically stitched together. Similar to the standard panorama image but on a whole new level.

You can even move through a space providing viewers with a completely new view. See the main image above as an example and many more here.

Your photo sphere will be hosted on Google but you can share it via social media and embed it on your website.

Just think of the possibilities. You could show a full view of the inside of your shop or you could take an image of the speaker on stage and then scroll around to see the full audience – you could then even walk backstage within the same image!

Get creative!
